“This is unacceptable!” Elastic objected over the murmur in the meeting room. “We are inventors, not soldiers! Marching for war is chemicals job!”
“And it's your job to back them up with equipment. War preparation doesn't have to mean fighting.” Mechanical answered calmly.

“In this case I'm afraid it does.” Electrical answered.

The upset murmur around the table started again.

“Weaklings.” Chemical mumbled annoyed by the other’s reaction.

“I'm not asking you to train soldiers but to make sure your members are ready to put up a fight if needed. And to make sure they control their war forms properly. We don't want a free for all battle if there would be a demon war.”

“I don't think it's necessary for all factions to prepare for war. The black shifters are four individuals! We are ten energy shifters! The rebels are mostly low power shifters and we got a whole faction with trained soldiers.” Elastic continued to complain.

“This is a request from Gravity.” Electrical said authoritatively.

The murmur silenced and disappeared.

“Have you spoken with Gravity?” Thermal asked surprised.

“He sent me a message.”

“Is he alright?” Thermal asked worried.

“I think he would let us know if he wasn't. I don't know about you but I believe he knows what he's doing.” silent agreements and nods answered her around the table.

As the others walked out of the meeting room Chemical remained seated without any intentions to follow the others out.
“Chemical, could I have a word with you?” Electrical asked

“I expect no less. So what's the message? What's big enough for Gravity to think he can't handle it alone?” there was a slight pinch of bitterness in his voice.

“Since you're head of the army I thought you better know what we're up against.”

Chemical just silently looked at her, waiting for the continuation.

“I think they've found us, might only be one. I need more time to confirm, is what he said.”

Chemical wasn't known for his big reactions. He wasn't one who seemed surprised by anything. But those who knew him knew the less he reacted the bigger his surprise. Chemical didn't move an inch. He sat like a frozen statue silently looking at her.

“I see…” he said finally. Hadn’t Electrical known him so well, she would've thought he looked bored. But she did know Chemical. She knew he was rather paralyzed than calm. ”So, what's the plan?” he asked with the same calm voice.

“Right now I'm going to wait for Gravity’s confirmation and make sure our society won't stand unprepared for the worst case scenario. I'm going to take over the command of your human by the way.”
“That’s fine.” he answered.

“The mind reader as well.”

“What does Radiation think of that?”

“She was furious at me at first, but after I told her it was on a request from Gravity she gave in.”

“So what's your plan for the psychic?”

“A weapon against the black shifters.”

“Are you not going to tell the rest of the council about this?”

“Not until I've got a confirmation from Gravity. Gods know what they'll do or if they tell anyone else about it… I don't want to cause unnecessary panic.”

“Hm…” Chemical grunted. “I'm not sure Cain would have been especially happy if he had known his kid was going to be used as a weapon.”

“Had it not been Delmar had it been Cain. Which one do you prefer?” she asked seriously. He rose from the table to head out.

“Thanks for telling me this.” he answered.

“Chemical,” she said.

“Yes?”

“You must promise me not to take this fight all by yourself.”

“A god? I'm not suicidal.” he sneered.

“You have done it before, during the war.”

“That wasn't me. That was another Chemical.”

A short text I threw together this weekend while procrastinating from cleaning my apartment :P

I hadn't planed to write about this from the start but I changed my mind. So here's a short text about the council.
